Rise Fitness Fit Tips for mums

Rise Fitness was among the most popular exhibitors at Parenting Australia Newcastle 2007. Founder Melissa Poulton set up the business especially for mums and mums-to-be, with a focus on outdoor fitness and small group training. The program ‘Pram Pushers’ is a Rise Fitness specialty and a firm favourite: a fun and safe outdoor training program that incorporates exercises with a pram to help new mothers get back into shape. Melissa’s top tips for Mums

1. Start slow Ease your way into exercise. Remember to consult your GP or obstetrician before starting your exercise program.
2. Exercise with someone A friend, family member or group. Training with other mums is a big motivator.
3. Start with the basics Focus on strengthening your core and pelvic floor muscles. Try simple stability exercises on the fit ball e.g. pelvic tilts, and work the muscles from the inside out.
4. Be creative Mix up your exercise routine. Include a few different training methods to get fantastic results. Walking, pilates, group outdoor fitness, swimming and light weights are all great ways for mothers to get back into shape.
